Biography

Brenna GetHers is a recording artist that received her first solo success when she was named as a semifinalist on American Idol Season Five in 2006.

"Music is a mirror, reflective of her experiences" says Brenna.

She’s in a new genre of singer songwriters and has been compared to the likes of Lauryn Hill, Keisha Cole, Neyo and Drake. Her style is a mix of R&B, hip-hop/soul and rap.

 

Brenna finished her first mixtape, entitled BeeUTeefulAmeriknIDolL Vol.1. in late spring 2010. While recording, she’s preparing for a promotional college tour in late 2010, to promote BeeUTeefulAmeriknIDolL Vol.1

and her untitled debut album.

 

She learned tenacity and persistence are essential for success.

On her first tour, she was an opening act, for Ruben Studdard in the Superstar Idols tour , alongside other American Idols in late 2006. Her sound evoked the soulfulness of the 70’s when she teamed up with the funk band, the Bomb Squad in early 2007. With them, she played venues on her Midwest, North and Southeast promotional tours with band sponsorships from Magic Hat No. 9 beer and Samson microphones. In July 2007, she and her band performed for over 30,000 attendees at the Ottowa Jazz Festival. The pinnacle of her post Idol experiences allowed her to share the marquee with John Mayer’s as one of his opening acts on the Mayercraft Cruise in early 2008. Brenna helps build her community by supporting her local YMCA, along with charity appearances for The SHADE Foundation (Kurt and Shonda Shilling’s Charity) in late 2008, and New York’s Good Samaritan Hospital.

She has appeared on soul, funk rock, and most recently, rap albums.
